Take the Time

This is such a busy time of year.  People get frantic, all in the name of a celebration.  And people forget what it is we are celebrating in the first place!  It's a day of light and miracles and God on earth in the form of a wee little baby.

It's not about the shopping and wrapping and decorating and parties.  It's not about the over-indulgence.  It can be hard to step back and really remember to keep your focus in the right place.  It's hard not to get caught up in it all.

For me, my favorite time is the week after Christmas when all the frantic-ness is finally over - or mostly.  It's then that I really begin to sit and reflect.  It's then that I relax and start enjoying time with friends.

Especially during the time I was in college, this was the time to visit with friends I hadn't seen all year and catch up.  It was the time to go to a coffee shop and just chat and enjoy each other's company.  So, in the week ahead, be sure to take some time to really connect with family or friends.  Sit and chat and catch up on each others goings ons.  It will be a lovely gift to everyone involved.

  1. That's my favorite week, too! There is a natural lull after Christmas and before New Year. This is when I head up to the cabin for quiet reflection and preparation. Lots of naps, walks with the dog, reading, watching the snow, listening to the creek.
